Description

This boulder is about 12ft tall. The boulder has 2 V1's and a few other harder routes too. It was really chalked up when I found it, but still covered in spider webs. It looks like it is pretty easy with tons of jugs, but when you have good hands the feet suck so the routes are a little tricky. The top out is pretty rounded and slopey so it makes the last moves a little bit more exciting. And there is a easy walkoff on the backside.

Getting There

You can approach this 2 ways. From the JPL parking lot walk 3/4 mile then turn right up the first stream. Then hike about another 1/2 mile crossing the stream several times and then you’ll see the boulder on the left side.

Or the lazy way, exit the 210 at Windsor, Right on Woodbury, Left up Lincoln, then turn left on Canyon Crest. Go about a 1/2 mile and park in a small turn out on the left or right. Then walk down into the canyon and downstream for 30 seconds and you’ll see the boulder.

Clayface V5 6C  CA : Los Angeles Basin : ... : Canyon Crest Road Boulder
The problem begins as a two hand sit start. The crux is performing the first two moves. The lack of good foot holds forces a series of quick powerful moves. The key to climbing this problem is having your feet in the right position before going for the first move....[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
