Description
Looking for obscure? After climbing Jimmy Cliff, Arid Piles and Mt Grossvogel, take it to the next level and head into the remoteness of Candlestein Canyon.
Getting There
You can hike here from the end of Lost Horse Ranger Station Rd or Real Hidden Valley (lots of parking). It will take you over an hour to find a climb, your first time out.
From the RHV parking lot, head west on a climber's trail passing Houser Buttress on your right. As soon as you see Arid Piles, go cross-country, staying left (south) of Arid Piles. Cross a dirt road, with Mt Grossvogel on your right and then another dirt road. As you leave Grossvogel head slightly south of west, bearing left of the upcoming rocks. This will get you into the wash that leads up Candlestein Canyon.
