Camping Labor Day Wknd at City of Rocks

Any chance for camping at or near the city? It'll be my first time going so I don't know what it is like. Thanks

There is excellent campsites throughout the park, restrooms, and several water stations but the water is sometimes a bit colorful. Also free primitive dry camping not too far away. Sites are usually booked in advance and I would be very surprised if there was one vacant for that weekend.

There is BLM land next to the City thats free. It's further down the road from the turn off for the City, like a 10 minute drive and I would pack everything up and take it with you each morning.
