Is there any camping around summit lake? Any backcountry camping anywhere around that area? I'm considering climbing the Aprons and would like to be within close proximity for an early start. Thanks, Chris Berdoulay
as far as camping, it's a 100' from trails/water rule. However -- you're in fragile alpine & parking may be another issue all together though that you might have to talk with the entrance folks about. You may want to just kick back in the forest along 103 and avoid the hassle.
Notwithstanding whatever they say about it -- if you do go for multiple days, please put a note on your car stating your intended route & expected return; phones are hit/miss with mostly no service up there.
Be sure to grab some pie at the echo lodge when you get done, it's good stuff!

There is a forest service camp ground at echo lake.
there is a look out point I think it's called juniper pass on the south side of 103 not too far from echo lake, there are a # of bolted lines on the cliff. I bet you can find some camping around there in at least 2 spots. there is a dirt road on the north around there with lots of sites. I usually just drive up around sunrise, but I live like 10 miles up 103.
