Camp Harness Gear Loops

Is it just me, or does the rubber sheath on my harness (Camp Stratos) make it uncommonly hard to clip/unclip biners?

I love this harness but the loops are driving me crazy...would it be ill-advised to remove the rubber sheath and just clip the loop cord? I see many other harness designs without this type of sheath.

My previous harness was a Mammut with plastic gear loops, which was uncommonly easy to clip until one of the loops cracked :(

Just to follow up on my own thread...I continued to experience issues with unclipping gear from this harness, and then read a review on outdoorgearlab that noted the same problem.

I emailed Camp customer service about this issue, and the person I spoke with acknowledged that he's also experienced the same problem, and offered to give me a discount on a new Jasper CR3 harness, which replaced the Quartz CR3 (I mistakenly ID'd it as the Stratos, but it's a Quartz). The new harness has stiffer gear loops but is otherwise similar to the Quartz. Great customer service from Camp.

Is that discount just a one time? I was thinking of upgrading my Camp Quartz, and was looking at BD harnesses for that same reason. Did not know that Camp had updated them.

The discount was extended to me by customer service when I asked if they had an exchange program. I can't say for sure but I expect they would extend the same offer to you.

I was told the Jasper CR3 was very similar in design to the Quartz, except a little lighter and with stiffer gear loops.

Well, they could have told me to screw off just as easily, but in the interest of keeping a customer they offered me a discount on a new harness of a different design...it's not as if the harness failed under use...not sure why you're hating on them.

The reason I purchased the harness originally was one of the plastic loops on my Mammut harness cracked, and Mammut's response was that the harness was no longer under warranty so there was nothing they could, or would, do. In my mind Camp went a bit farther to keep me happy .

The Quartz CR3 gear loops sucked...that and me getting skinnier has resulted in me retiring that harness. Just picked up their Warden harness and am very pleased so far. Real gear loops (and lots of them), great fit, comfortable...seems burly. Not bad!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
