Description

The Upper Tier has 10 routes ranging from 5.2 to 5.11 although all but the one 5.2 are 5.9 or harder. Climbs range from pure friction sport climbs to a classic finger crack climb. Pure sport, pure trad, and mixed climbs exist on excellent quality granite reaching 50-60' in height. Great routes to do are Rocco's Corner, Fire Stone, Joey's, and Lost Love.

Getting There

The upper tier can be reached by scrambling up the left side of the Lower Tier. There are some class 3 sections so care must be taken as a tumble down could be serious. Most people rappel down from the upper tier as the walk down the western slabs and into thick manzanita is quite difficult. Maybe we couldn't find the trail... it certainly is not obvious.

Climb up past first bolt through a nicely featured face. To get to the second bolt, which is quite a ways away, move up and delicately step left just below the bolt. You would hit the deck if you slipped off here. Move up to the obvious left facing fla...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
