The June Lakes Area has mainly bouldering, although there is limited sport and gear routes around. The main season for climbing is late spring through November, when the first snows of winter start to cover the approach roads to many of the areas.
All year climbing is possible at some venues, although during the winter months it is very much dependent on the weather.
The majority of the climbs are on volcanic tuff. The two outstanding areas about are the Bachar Boulders, and the Deadmans Bouldering.
