Sad Boulders. from the top of the approach lookin...

Description

Bishop Tuff boulders like the Happy Boulders, but can be cooler in spots due to the narrow, catacomb-like channels and caves. The area has a dense collection of problems, but caters more to climbers in the v6 - v10 range than the neighboring Happy Boulders, though some easier classics, such as 'China Doll' v0 and 'Still Life' v3 do exist.

Getting There

From Bishop take road 6 North. Left on Five Bridges Road. Left again on Chalk Bluff Road. Park in pullout on your left after about a mile. The Sads can also be approached from Casa Diablo Road, but the parking lot at the top of the canyon is small and parking off road is highly discouraged by the BLM.

Make another long pull straight up to a 4 finger slot, if you are very tall you can keep your feet below you, otherwise a high foot out right works. Now hand foot match on the left and pull through to the top....[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
