The Diving Board

The Area

This encompasses the area just before the last switchback near the summit of Mt. Woodson, the summit itself and a bit of the downhill run after the summit. After swinging around past The Cave Area switchback and heading north on the road, this area starts. It also includes the boulders down the north facing slope to the outstanding route P.H.D. and those routes past the summit antenna city to the Ogre.

Getting There

After The Cave Area, a right turn switchback is encountered and one begins to ascend the final run to the summit. It is after this switchback, that Summit Area is encountered.

Crucible 5.10d  CA : San Diego County : ... : The Summit Area
Classic Woodson sandbag. This testpiece gets the cardio going by offering offhands with no feet, to fist, to offwidth snailing at the top. Running laps on this will get you ready for some of Yosemite's 5.9s...Highly Recommended...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
