Description

Say what!? Not off the beaten track and not often visited - this is a nice little peak with a great ridge traverse. The next peak north from Mount Goode (north of Bishop Pass).

One of the best views of North Palisade is from the summit of this peak.

As far as I know the monolithic NE Wall remains unclimbed - although an entry in the summit register is interesting:

"Tried the northeast face, retreated because of lack of protection" - Alan Bartlett.

Getting There

Start at the South Lake trailhead and hike toward Bishop Pass. Follow the trail to Long Lake, cross over it's headwaters and hike up a shallow valley SW to Margaret Lake, which is a good base for both Trapezoid and Goode (North Buttress). 3.5 miles and 1,500 ft elevation gain.
