North Guard from the east

Description

This is the ridge-encrusted peak just north of Mt. Brewer, a popular peak near the Great Western Divide in Kings Canyon N.P.
While Mt. Brewer is higher, North Guard is more complex, and has at least one incredible ridge climb(west ridge),which rivals any of the "easy" ridges Ive climbed in the Sierra.

Getting There

Approach from the Sphinx Trail, via the Bubbs creek trailhead. Once the trail crosses Sphinx creek, cross-country on faint climbers trails, through talus, lakes and marshy areas.
This Approach then crests treeline and ends at Sphinx Lakes(elev.10,500ft) Just our approach was 5500ft and over 10 miles.
