Doug abseiling Wilderness Wall

Description

For one of the best routes at Cerro Cabrillo, head to Wilderness Wall, on the backside of Park Ridge. It is the shady wall across the valley east of Portola Hill. It gets early morning sun only. Tecnu 5.9*** (3 bolts) is as good as any 5.9 in SLO county. Short, sequency, porous rock, sustained, a must do. And no longer above poison oak! There are two other options for harder 5.10 top rope problems. A good link up with Park Ridge rock.

Getting There

Wilderness Wall is on the backside of Park Ridge. It is the shady wall across the valley east of Portola Hill. Park by gate (not in front of it) just south of Cabrillo Parking lot. Hike up as for Park Ridge, then pass it on the right, up the road about 300 feet, then hang a left up brush. Head to the top of the knob behind Park Ridge. 2 sets of anchors. All new bolts.
