This little, out-of-the-way crag is great for an all day excursion (including drive time) for those trad hungry climbers who don't need a lot to choose from. A short hike downhill with a little bushwacking will get you there. The South Face is very course (Veadawoo'esque) with about five or so established crack climbs.

Getting There

From Denver, take US Hwy 85 (Santa Fe South). From Castle Rock, take US Hwy 85 North to Sedalia. Go West on CO 67 till you get to Rampart Range Road. Then go South for approximately four (4) miles [8.7 miles], keeping an eye out for the Cabin Ridge Picnic Ground sign on the right. Park at the end and walk directly West on the trail to the back side of the crag. Go around to the left for the easiest access.

Not a whole lot to describe here as just looking at the route gives you all the information. Most climbs can be done in one pitch, but make it two to avoid rope drag on the course rock. Easy start to the ledge then the crux, off camber crack. Continue left and up as the crack goes to the top.... walk off. My rating is based on the climbs here and not that of others in it's grade....[more]   Browse More Classics in CO

The distance along Rampart Range Road is actually about 8.5 miles, not 4 miles.
