Left Face actually goes up left edge of photo, up ...

Description Left Face climbs the left side of the slabby face on the south face of Butt Rock. Start on easier ground and work your way up along the left side of rock. Fun route for beginner climbers as the rock is not steep, holds are there, but good friction footwork is required.
Protection This route is normally toproped as there are currently no bolts on the route. Very long slings are required for setting up the anchors.

| The left Face is deceptive. Looks simple from the bottom but there is only one bolt halfway up the face. This would pose a great deal of problems for a novice of which I am only slightly above that ranking myself. Glad my friend Paul climbed up "Chimney" and had set up a top rope with Slings so I felt more comfortable. Once I got to the upper section, it became a very fingery route and entailed a great deal of smearing skills. |
