BETA PHOTO: Breaching Boulder's west face overhang.

Description

Breaching Boulder has an impressive, east-facing prow with decent rock quality and great landings.

There is a definite sand factor near the ground, but much of the slab and prow are nicely textured and solid.

Getting There

It lies about 30 yards west of East Creek, or at the edge of the old floodplain where the hill for the Texas Boulder Area begins its sharp rise.

Stand start with right and left hand crimps and a foot on the obvious rail beneath the overhang. From there, work straight up the slab on sloping crimps and bumps to an easy topout. The key to this problem involves a technical, left heel hook.Another option adds a sit start to the problem, which would start from the same point as Malice of Alice and finish straight up United Device. It would definitely add some mileage and likely increase the problem's difficulty....[more]   Browse More Classics in CO
