so years ago I bought a pad from cliff at bittersweet and only used it a handful of times. I decided this week that I should try to introduce myself to this kind of climbing. any suggestions to some easy problems on the front range? I work in the restaurant industry and their are days that I don't start work until later in the afternoon, and would love to get out when I can't find a partner to rope up with. I went out this week to Morrison and experimented on the darkside. I had an interesting time trying to figure out the starts to some of the problems. the only problem that I actually completed was a V0 I think called easy cracks. I know my pad wasn't in the right place had I fallen. it was kind of a sack up and get it done. what benfits have people seen from bouldering?

Think it'll go?

Keep going to Morrison. You'll eventually run into enough spray to keep yourself occupied for the next 5 years! Same thing with Flagstaff. Otherwise get any of the Colorado Bouldering guidbooks. You'll find plenty easy problems to do.
There are numerous benefits to bouldering. It will give you techniques that you can't acquire in sport, trad, etc. This in turn will help you in the other arenas of climbing, especially confidence-wise. It's also fun in and of itself.

Kevin, If you live in Highlands Ranch and you are looking for moderate bouldering, I suggest The Corridor area at Castlewood.
Many lowball problems from V0-V6 and super-flat landings.

doing it

i agree with Chris and Justin. i have noticed a big difference in power, due to the dead hanging and roof pulls.
i use to hate bouldering, i thought if i got hurt bouldering that i couldn't trad. that next weekend and would really be angry.
it has its ups and downs. but a good exercise techique.

Hi Kevin,
Park in the western-most lot, past the east entrance and visitor center. Take The Inner Canyon Trail down into the upper canyon and follow it west. Eventually, you will pass beneath the power line that spans the upper canyon. Continue west under the power line and soon you will come to a section of stairs that descend where the canyon widens. Above this spot, The Corridor is on the north rim on a west-facing section of cliff that is home to three giant detached blocks near the rim. The main corridor area with dozens of moderates lines between the middle block and the rim. It has a flat, grassy landing.

You can love your rope but you can't "LOVE" your rope!
(Back by Popular Demand. There you are Mom)

This is in Westlands Park in Greenwood Village, at the corner of Quebec and Orchard I think. Great after work burn.

Here is a pic of one part of the area. Also has further detail in the Colorado Bouldering 2 book. Fun spot, lots of different climbs in an concentrated area.
