Description
A secluded south facing collection of boulders below a bluff line. Some big, some small.
Boulder # 401 - High up just next to cliff band. Has a striking finger crack right up the middle.
Grey Boulder - Large boulder, a bit lower than the 401.
Boulder Garden - A collection of smaller boulders blow the next small bluff over. Due east from #401 by about 100yrds
Oak Tree Boulder - an outlier, below and a little beyond the Boulder Garden.
Good Day Governor Boulder - South side of the Old Orchard Pass trail, just over a very small hill.
Getting There
Near the end of the Twin Valley Road. Park at the parking area where the Old Orchard Pass trail crosses the road. Hike east, away from the lake, up either the Old Orchard Pass trail or an alternative immediately across from the parking area. Pass an unnamed trail/road on your left, marked "no horses". Where the bluff rises above the trail to your left and runs parallel to a power line, turn left into the woods toward the bluff, up a shallow drainage that splits the bluff. In spring and fall you will see boulders scattered below the bluffs.
If you reach the Driftless horse trail (which rings the park), you have gone a little too far for everything except Good Day Governor.
