Description

Borglum Memorial is the small dome next to the wrinkled rock campground across the street from the rest of Chopping Block. On the north side is a steep schist wall and a pile of boulders, on the south-west side of this dome is the route Borglum Memorial. Easy slabs on the east face behind the outhouse access the top. The Trash Can boulders are a good way to start or end the day. The rock is good and the problems are all good and usually work sharp crystals.

Getting There

Walk 20 seconds from camp.

Boulder 4 with routes a, b, and c. (red, yellow, blue) yellow was the only one i attempted and was really enjoyable with good movement on pretty positive holds. the top out is high up and pretty blank so i didn't manage the send, opening moves felt around v2/v3. the other routes on this boulder look hard.

Boulder 1 with routes a, b, and c (blue, yellow, red) i've heard the blue problem is hard v6 or even v7 maybe, i've never been able to stick the crystal up top but the moves to there are easy so i wouldn't know. i'm not sure yellow is a route but it looks like it would go. red is easy v0 with a nice high top out and good flat landing

Great area, short approach, and a variety of problems in the V0 - Vhard range. I presume Mike Olsen nabbed many of the FAs here hence the large number of red dots scattered amongst the boulders. Hopefully these pictures help a bit for anyone looking to get out and get some sends. If anyone knows names and grades please post up.

Mike Olsen actually added dots AFTER many of these were sent by Dave A., Eric Sutton, myself....

Thanks for the awesome info/beta Greg, I've heard similar things about the red dots going up after problems had already been sent or established. I'll get the routes up on here to reflect that info as well as change some of those colored lines. This is a great area with really fun routes.
