On a warm-up lap on Princely Ambitions (Index, WA) the other day, I came across a stopper and a locker. It would appear that someone bailed from this point. If this is YOU, I would be happy to return your gear, but you are going to get a firm scolding about your incredibly dangerous decision. The stopper in question was poorly seated and cleaned with an easy jerk. In my opinion, you are very lucky that wasn't the last decision you ever made.

Better choices include backing up this piece if you were really that desperate, down-climbing/"down-falling" to the bolt just below you, and of course not getting on a route above your grade. I apologize if it sounds like I'm being a "jerk," but I firmly believe in safety first. Your life is worth much more than the price of a cam or two (or multiple nuts), and most of us would be happy to return these to you as well.

Better days my friend, and like mom always said, "make good choices!"

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
