If you're staying in the area be sure to visit the Canberra Space Centre and the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, Even though Canberra is the capital city it's pretty quiet, it's a designed town, much like Brasilia, spread around several large lakes, with towns separated by wide boulevards. I usually stay in Kingston, which has a big block of restaurants and pubs. A car is essential here.
