Description Suggest change

Good Granite climbing with out the crowds. Do not climb here in the Summer it is too hot.

Getting There Suggest change

There's a couple ways to approach this area, both about the same distance.

From the big Granite Mountain TH parking lot off 136th Street:

Option 1:  Head NW along the Bootlegger Trail until it intersects the Saddlehorn Trail  (~0.7 mi). Take a left on Saddlehorn and go to it's intersection with the Granite Mountain Loop Trail (~0.2 mi). Take a right and hike the Granite Mountain Loop Trail to the north and west until you see a big formation on the left with a large crack running down the middle. This is The Loaf. Bobcat Boulder is the small broken cliff below and to the left of the Loaf.

Option 2: Head west on the Powerline Trail to it's intersection with the Granite Mountain Trail (~0.6 mi). Take right onto the Granite Mountain Trail and hike that to it's intersection with the Granite Mountain Loop Trail (~0.3 mi). Go right on the GMLT and take that trail past it's intersection with the Saddlehorn Trail around to the north and west until you see a big formation on the left with a large crack running down the middle. This is The Loaf. Bobcat Boulder is the small broken cliff below and to the left of the Loaf.

WARNING! BEES!

Suggest change

This area is known to have an active beehive (in the area between Loaf and Bobcat Boulder) that has been there for a LONG time. The bees have been known to be aggressive and many climbers have been stung.
