Is there a new trail to the Black Peeler? Specifically the Western Grebe route. Hiked in there last Thursday and the trail, while never that clear, was completel overgrown and washed out. With all the threatening "No Trespassing" signs on the road by the Power Plant, I was thinking folks had created a new trail. Anyone have beta on this?

Also, the rack-up rock at the base of the Western Grebe has been washed/knocked off the ledge and is now laying in the scrub oak 30 feet below!! Must have been a lot of water coming down that corner (or other rocks, but it didn't look like there was extra rock around).

Stairway To Heaven - all the way to the Pearly Gat...
Not sure about the trail but most folks do nto know that everything from the east of Tingey's Terror up to the Perpetual Storage is private land. I.e all of the Black Peeler is on private land.

Third bolt on last pitch of cheetah
I have spoken with the owner of Perpetual Storage years ago about access, property lines and liability issues.

His property ends at the switch back on the old road. He does not own the east face of the black peeler.
He said we could use the road if we do not follow it up to the vault, For security reasons.
Which would be a good idea because the employees are armed to the teeth.

The no trespassing sign is there for liability reasons, just like the church.
He was concerned about getting sued so I told him to do the same thing the church does. Put up the sign but don't press charges.

No new trail that I know of, but the old one could use a clean up project.
Anybody want to help?

My wife and I were thinking of at least taking some pruning shears and trimming up the overgrown brush next time we climb there (Wednesday, maybe). We might be interested in contributing more. It wouldn't really take much shovel work. Brush was the biggest problem last Thursday.

The Peeler is such a great place. Glad to hear that Perpetual Storage isn't too wound up over folks walking on the road.

Ya the owner is way cool Just like the NEW owner of the parking lot and bridge. We lucked out with the sale of the hydro plant.
We would have lost the parking lot and bridge if anybody else bought it.
But we are not out of the woods yet.

Everybody needs to join the SLCA and the access fund TODAY!!!!

What up John? Glad to see you posting.
Give me a call soon. Talking to my old forman right now.

I am already an Access Fund member (since the late 90's, about), but need to look into the SLCA some more and probably jump in (need to climb more as well!)

I may not be the John Evans you are thinking of. I don't work for Petzl. You wouldn't be the first to think I was that guy.
