i was going to climb at the black peeler last weekend and noticed there are a bunch of new no tresspassing signs at the beginning of the trail as well as a new fence covering the open side of the gate. does anyone know if the access is totally closed to climbers now? in the past there was only one sign at the entrance. it seems with the new fence at the entrance that they are trying to keep eveyone out. any info would be nice as i love to climb at the peeler but dont want to get arrested doing it, thanks!

No Idea, I will see if a few of us can check things out. In all of the years the Peeler has been a non-issue - to the point that I have never had any discussions with the property owners - Perpetual Storage. I'll see what I can find out.

Did you approach via their new paved road? or the old dirt access road with the switchback?

I've always approached from the dirt road and never had an issue.. hopefully this can get sorted out. Thanks Allen!

Overheard Jonathan Knight talking about it at the AAC gig a couple weekends back. I think he was going to talk to them. Jonathan?

I had always heard of the climbing community and Perpetual Storage having a verbal agreement allowing climbers to access the Black Peeler via the Peeler road as long as we refrain from turning East and traveling up the switchback towards their vault.

The development of stunt MTB trails between the Peeler road and the highway, on Perpetual Storage property, has led to the new postings. Last year, the SLCA offered the climbing community's assistance in cleaning up the mess left after the trails were demolished, but Perpetual Storage declined.

The good news is that Perpetual Storage did acknowledge the past verbal agreement, maintaining climbing access via the Peeler road. The SLCA will be looking if there are ways to further confirm this. In the meantime use discretion in the area, and park in the pullout down-canyon from the pullouts adjacent the power plant as specified in the description for Great White Icicle here

Are these the same big "NO Trespassing" signs in front of the Glen? I noticed one in particular about 10 feet in front of the awesome, pretty roadside V5. Just concerned for the access to the bouldering there.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
