Any suggestions for a good 2 or 3 day river trip? Want to be alone for a few days. Id rather float gently in a canoe than do anything with whitewater... id have to rent the canoe and have a service drop me far enough up river for it to take a few days to get back... anywhere in america works for me... but maybe california?

Go from Mineral Bottom to Spanish Bottom on the Green/Colorado(or add Labyrinth to that as well if you want long days), and then get picked up by a jet boat service for the uprun back to Moab. Probably the finest flatwater canoe trip in the US.

Wow great suggestion, Andrew! You did this trip yourself?

This looks like exactly what I wanted. Some of the guiding services have this particular trip (mineral to spanish bottom) at 4-5 days, but I'd assume this is including off-water liesure time/mild hiking? I'm not really intertested in much of that... just want to paddle for several days, and sleep under the stars. Is 52 miles on this particular section of water doable in three days? I'm thinking about 20 miles a day isnt unheard of, and gives a bit of flexibility if it dips to 12-15 miles one or two days.

I've done it a couple of times in a raft as the start of Cataract Canyon. It is totally flat and very popular for canoe trips, and the canyon is beautiful. 3 days is no problem in a canoe for that stretch - you could do it in 2 if you pushed. Save a bit of time to hike up to the Dolls House at Spanish Bottom and to Fort Bottom.

The labyrinth section can be done with a car shuttle only. No jet boat needed. Put in at Ruby Ranch take out at Mineral Bottom. Either or both are great.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
