I'm heading to Birdsboro in a few weeks with a few of my buddies and we're not too familiar with the area. Are there any places to camp in the park or nearby? (Free camping would obviously be best case scenario). Thanks for your help!

The wife and I road-trippin on the Connie.
Check out French Creek State park, it's just a few miles away.

Also, you can contact the people who lead the maintenance/development here for there advice climbing@birdsboroclimbing.com

Checkout the Birdsboro Facebook page, it has a lot of info about some of the current happenings with Birdsboro township and the DEP. Camping at French Creek is your best bet, and most importantly will not jeopardize climber access in the future.

If you camp at French Creek, keep the booze hidden and the noise down. They hand out some expensive tickets and take the rules very seriously.

Just spent around 3 hours looking at all the possible options in accommodation here and it's a little limited.

If you're like most climbers and enjoy having a beer and socialising / talking about your day at the campsite. Then there is nowhere nearby to do this.

The options you have are the following:

French Creek Campsite: No noise, no booze, strict and hand out tickets for insubordination to the rules. Looks nice and is a family orientated place

Good if: You're into that kind of place
Bad if: You're a big group looking to have a little bit of partying on your climbing trip

Americas Best Value Inn: Dirty, Filthy scum hole of filth with great prices and allows pets.

Good if: You don't mind hovering over a dirty toilet thats been duct taped together
Bad if: You mind another persons stains on your sheets

Econo Lodge Douglassville: Word on the grapevine is that this place isn't half bad. They allow pets and are pretty cheap by all standards

Good if: You're on a trip with a group and want to get a bit silly
Bad if: you only stay at hotels with a swimming pool

I'm thinking i'll try them all out and see how it goes for myself before passing too much judgement. There is another place to stay opposite a strip club that apparently is "ROCK'IN" at night time. Wonder why?

Hey guys There is one other campground about 20 minutes from the crag. It's just down the road from french creek state park. Here's the website warwickwoods.com. hope this helps.

You can camp at the Bird. It's totally primitive. You have to haul your own water and if the key holder isn't around, you will not have acces to the porta potty.

You will have to haul your gear in (about a mile walk). If you come in from the top you will not have to cross the creek. If you come in from the bottom, you will have to cross the creek 2x.

Are you 100% on camping at the bird??
That would be sweet if that's the case!! It would save me like 5 hr of driving
