Big South Fork: Treasure to be found at the bottom of Angel Falls

Hi folks!

Anybody got a metal detector? You could be in for the greatest pirate treasure adventure of your whole life. MY ENTIRE RACK IS AT THE BOTTOM OF ANGEL FALLS. in a duffel bag, sitting, waiting to be found. This rack has a value of probably around 1500. If you are around that area and have a metal detector, go for it! but be careful the water is fast moving and undercut in many places. On a side note we were able to put up an FA further down the river so the trip wasn't a total loss.

P.S. Anyone feeling charitable? or have some decent gear they'd like to sell for cheap? I've lost a child i feel, and am rebuilding.

Cheers,

Jared

I've hired a young lad off Craigslist to search for your treasure.

you could prob go back in late summer when the water is low and find it. of course, now that you've told everyone where it is your chances of success are a bit slim.

Hi Jared,

Sorry to hear about your rack, that's terribly unfortunate! How did it happen? So, Angel Falls is a really large area with pretty large rapids, what areas did you look in after it happened and what are your ideas on where at Angel Falls the rack might have ended up? I might be up in that area this month, I'll definitely take a look around. Congrats on the FA, there is so much unclimbed at BSF!

Well I was hoping someone would find it and give some of it back in order to gain some karma from the rock gods (which we could all use a little more of). The canoe didn't flip until it wen't over the last drop, (i.e. it's not in any of the upper pools). So I would say it's somewhere in the deep, fast moving water right before the big cutting board rock that the current pounds at the end, or maybe more to the left (looking down river) more in the current.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
