Hey I am looking for some advice on where to climb in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Argentina. I will be riding my bicycle with lots of gear ( I have already gone from Reno,NV to Panama city and climbed and surfed). Should I bring a 60m rope or 70m? So far I will be going to Suesca and Bucaramanga area in colombia. Ecuador seems like a lot of alpine and I won't have the gear, Huaraz in Peru and I haven't yet researched much of chile and Argentina. I will be going into the Patagonia range but I am trying to boulder and sport climb mostly (due to weight restrictions and lack of gear). So What size rope, how many quickdraws and what are the best sport climbing crags and bouldering spots?

I couldn't help it. Sitting in NY Right now under feet of snow your trip sounded too good! Have fun!

I hear that there is good granite sport climbing in Cordoba, and Piedra Parada in Northern Pata is outstanding for sport routes. I also looked at the Bariloche sport climbing guidebook, and it looks like there is a ton to do around there as well, not to mention the tradie stuff at Frey. A 70m rope is always useful.

Thanks, If I can get away with a 60 I may, to cut down on weight. But ideally no rope and meet some friends.
