I have a surprise 3 weeks to do something, I have a car/double rack/pads, but no partner. Considering a bouldering area so that I don't have to worry about securing a partner everyday.
Trying to decide where the best climbing is right now (driving not flying). I'm in NYC right now, but weather/possibility of finding partners is more important than distance.

Let's focus on this.

It would be damn hard to just show up and find partners in the ADKs, especially mid-week. The best part about the ADKs is that there is often no one there...but this is a big downside for the partnerless climber. It would likely end up being a lonely couple of weeks.

A bit easier to find partners, but still far from ideal. These seem to be more of a weekend scene, without a steady supply of long-term roadtripping climbers to keep you partnered-up mid week.
My inclination would be to go to the Red or the New. Both have good centralized climber's campgrounds and lots of climbers hanging out for weeks at a time (especially so at the Red). You would have absolutely zero difficulty finding people to climb with on any day of the week. Plus, the climbing is pretty darn good...
