Hi. I'm hoping to score some cheap tickets to spain mid-march (around 10 days) for some sport climbing. Based on some of my reading, it seems that it would be warmest to climb near Malaga, Costa Bianca and possibly Madrid. Would the Catalunya area be too cold? World class climbing there and we'd like to check it out but we only have 10 days. We also climb in the 10-11b sport range so we aren't sure if Catalunya is above our grade and we should stick to some other area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Much thanks! -S.
I've climbed in Catalunya in Jan, Feb and March over the past ~4 years. All trips have been great, with 1 or 2 days of crappy weather out of a 10 to 14 day trip that became the rest days. Mostly Siurana, Montsant, Arboli, Margalef, etc. Staying in Cornudella de Montsant and renting a car for less than 15USD/day from the BCN airport. Joe
