my girlfriend has an interview in Charlotte this Friday so I'm looking for somewhere to spend half a day bouldering by myself. Any suggestions?

I have 2 crash pads and no spotters so I'd prefer either a pretty popular spot where I'll run into climbers or something with some classic low balls!

What's up in the Charlotte area!

mountainproject.com/v/dixon… This is probably your best bet.

Dixon is the closest for sure. You should work on Atlas. Since you only have two pads maybe work out the beta for the Egg first, which is the topout for Atlas.

my family is in the newton area so that will prob work for me when I come to visit

Newton looks like it's about halfway between Dixon and Boone. Given those choices, you should definitely head to the Boone area to boulder. There are some sport routes at the Dump (outside of Blowing Rock, NC). Close to Dixon, there are sport routes at Crowders Mountain.

Boone weather is much more unpredictable than Dixon, but some of the problems around Boone are world class (and many are overrated too IMO)...can't really say that about Dixon. Getting beta for Boone is much more difficult than for Dixon as well.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
