Swimming up a sea of granite

Description 

Sweeping sheets of clean granite spread out over chains of mountains, the Bergell valley (Val Bregaglia) offers alpine adventures for the the plaisir climbers and many opportunities for more wild times.

A ring of huts provide base camps for the well-heeled (See Sasc Furä www.sascfura.ch/ and Capana di Sciora www.sachoherrohn.ch/main.asp?cid=36 on the Swiss side, Rifugio Gianetti on the Italian side). Camping tolerated pretty much anywhere in the alpine.

Getting There 

To Sasc Furä:

Public transit: Train to St. Moritz, bus to Bondo. About 3 hr hike from town.

Car: purchase 12 chf toll in Bondo at the start of the mtn road, drive to the parking lot. Best path to the capanna starts at *bottom* of the parking lot, crossing the river immediately.
