BETA PHOTO: North face of the needle. Super Dupont 5.11a/5.12c...

Site is under the Parc Régional de Val-David Val-Morin MORE INFO >>>

It's basically a face route with imaginary holds.
Be careful of big block near the anchor, it moves but wont come out, so don't place pro around it or leave your hand under it if you grab the top!

Third line of bolts on the left face of the needle.

MIXED, 4 bolts & a couple small-medium pieces.

I think this route is also sandbagged... Anyway, I find the grading at val D to generally be harder than other places I've been to.

Like many of the older routes here, these ratings are the same you'll find in the Adirondacks, New Hampshire, Gunks, Bugaboos, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, etc.

Be careful if you climb at Montagne d'Argent, cause the ratings there are pretty soft, unless you get on anything over 5.11 where stuff levels off.
I've seen so many Quebec climbers get their ass kicked when they start travelling around, ALWAYS start way below your rated abilities when discovering new areas so you can figure out if the rating is soft or sandbag.
