At the end of the DB line nestled in an alpen valley is Bayerischzell, a hot bed for alpine activity and sightseeing. In the summer particularly, the tourism could get overwhelming. There is climbing to the North, East, and West, with only two crags with quick easy access. There is a hostel in Sudelfeld: www.jugendherberge.de/jh/bayern/sudelfeld/
There are over 30 climbing areas in this area. Many are a coin toss to call alpine climbs, but fit better under crags.
TRAIN: From Munich, it is easy and pleasant. Auto: Take the A8 to the Wendling exit and go south on the B472 to Miesbach, at the south end of town, take the B307 all the way to Bayerischzell.
