Description Suggest change

The main slabs located directly above the town baseball fields hosts some great long moderate West Rock routes with sights of New Haven and Long Island Sound in the distance. Many of the routes here are multi-pitch sport however there are several gear and mixed protection (gear and bolts) routes mixed in... Several of these routes REQUIRE 70M ropes and several routes are multi-pitch routes.

Peregrine Falcons nest here approximately March to September every year. Check https://www.raggedmtn.org/blog for information on what routes are closed to climbing.

THESE ARE NOT YOUR TYPICAL SPORT ROUTES. THESE ROUTES CAN BE DANGEROUS! BOLT SPACING CAN BE SPARSE DUE TO LACK OF SOLID ROCK. AN UNEXPECTED FALL COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT RISK OF BLOCKS DISLODGING AND A POTENTIAL FOR FIXED GEAR TO FAIL.

Getting There Suggest change

Hike up the well worn trail behind the dugout. Follow the trail up and right behind some apartment buildings. Take the second left trail which cuts back left directly beneath the main slabs. After about 100 yards there's a cairn on your right and a faint trail that leads to the base of the ledges. Just past a small pine tree is a small right facing corner to begin 4th class scramble to base of routes.
