Better version:
Hey guys - I had to leave stuff on the anchor for resistance cause it got dark and my buddy (not partner) bailed on the climb next to it. I'd appreciate if someone leaves his yellow helium cam at the base, but have no expectations, and you should totally take the tricam off the 5.9 and the biners and NYLON sling off resistance's anchors. HOWEVER, the dyneema sling at the resistance anchor is probably not safe to keep using for much longer given its age (7yr), so you should either leave it for me or throw it away. The biners up there are rope end biners, and if they're camp, go ahead and booty them, but if they're orange BD, they're getting pretty old

So you abandoned gear on *two* routes because it got dark?
How does this even happen?

I think it has something to do with the rotation of the earth.

I left gear on more then one occasion while bailing on a route this past season, never once thought about asking to have it returned.... I screwed up I screwed up, please help make it better. Shouldn't there be a price to pay for making the wrong decision?

no that's totally fair - no real expectations here. it was two parties climbing together fwiw. Mostly just felt bad about my buddy leaving his cam...

Technically, it's the gravitational pull of the moon. But let's not quibble over physics.

Which day were you there? There was a group on Resistance (or something very close to it) yesterday (Sunday).

I was there after those guys. My buddy led it and cleaned everything but the anchor. I started at 4:50, and thought I'd get through the 5.10 bit by dark. The feet on that thing suck with a headlamp. Had to downclimb/fall while slotting nuts lower and lower to avoid leaving actual gear.

Thanks everyone for calling me out - totally no right to bail gear, but a trade for beers may be in the interest of all parties as my mank is probably more valuable to me than to you

Yes, please save at least one thread from degrading into a physics dick-measuring contest.

Why is beer or alcohol always the go-to reward if someone returns your stuff? Are climbers as a group so predictable and libatious that it's just assumed free alcohol would motivate the return of gear? What about a pack of smokes, a nice Starbucks gift card, or a crisp twenty dollar bill as a reward?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
