DescriptionThe Backstreet Wall sits on the climber's left side of Springer Gulch Wall. This wall faces west. Stewart Green does an excellent job of describing this wall in the new Falcon guidebook, "Rock Climbing Guide Colorado". It is sunny most of the day. The hike seemed pretty moderate from some of the South Platte slogs I've been on. Getting ThereDrive 5.4 miles from the turn off into the canyon, and park at a lot just past the turn off for Springer Gulch Campground. The approach is 15-20 minute hike. There is a trail that heads back towards the Backstreet Wall. The trail peters out and we hiked the easiest way through the trees to the base of the climbs. This is a great crack! Climb up the low-angle slab to the dihedral. Work the steep crack on fingers, hands, and stems. Clip the lone bolt and pull over the top. The run to the anchor is on easy, low-angle slab below the big roof. Crack ratings are always subjective; if you have fat hands and fat fingers like me, you’ll find perfect jams along the way, making this route a bit easier than the rating.
