Backpacking and scrambling somewhat near Denver

Hello all,

I currently live here in Denver and I am looking for a place within 2-3 hours to go backpacking for a night or 2 with my fiance. Im planning on going next weekend June 12-14 as long as weather cooperates. It would be nice to get in some 3rd or 4th class scrambling as well if possible. I have been looking at the Gore range and Indian peaks. It seems like most of that terrain is still going to be covered in snow and potentially hazardous snow. Anyone have any ideas for a 1-2 night backpack near some nice scrambling that would be pretty accessible/safe from avi danger by next weekend? Maybe some portion of the state hasn't been hammered by this late season snow?

Lost Creek Wilderness. Great Backpacking Loops.

Go in at the Goose Creek Trailhead.

was planning on the goose creek loop this last weekend but called the ranger and the creeks were way to high to cross in some spots so call before you go. we ended up going to the collegiate peaks and post holed through snow up to waist deep four four miles to reach another creek that was impassable. with the snow pack, rain , and run off makes for some tricky planning. good luck

Thanks for the heads up. Ill definitely call ahead. Post holing for 4 miles sounds terrible lol
