Description B-minor Mass is located on the South Tower of the Minor Mass of the Doorway Rocks. The lower half of the climb starts out on the south-facing buttress of the South Tower. Climb from here up to the ledge using nice easy holds. From the ledge traverse left and climb up through an easy overhang. On the final ledge ascend the inside corner to the top.

| The current "car to car" time on B-Minor is 27:30. Start at South Shore lot--run down the Grottos trail and then up Potholes trail until right before Red Rocks. Cut left (west) through scree to the base of the climb. Climb straight to the top of the rock and to the East Bluff Trail. Head left on the East Bluff trail and descend via the Balanced Rock trail. Going back down Potholes would just make the outing too short and lessen the workout value.
This seemed more involved than Turks Head--with more elevation gained and lost(most of it on trails). The climbing feels a little less solid too--maybe B-Minor just doesn't get the traffic. I think simulclimbing on B-Minor would definately bring the time down, as would scrambling up the talus below the start of the climb and not bothering with the Potholes trail all together. Any takers? |
