I don't know if they are really nice...I do know that they trash the hell out of the areas they are moving through down by the border. The coyotes are violent, ruthless people, who will leave the illegals to die in the desert. We have an increase in crime in Arizona due in part due to illegals here in the state.

I don't have any respect for coyotes either.

If I were fighting for my life while walking for days through a brutal landscape with little or no food and water, the environment would not be my first concern.

Desperate people do desperate things. Trust no one; especially out in remote areas, and always bring protection.

Summit photo, January 2007. Snow was on the ground around the pinnacles that day!

Oh, really, Eric?

Why don't you go take a look at all the "very nice" people who heave baseball-to-football sized rocks over the fences at our Border Patrol day and night, hoping to brain one of them?

Or how about those narcos who are often part of the illegal border crossers? I am sure they are not packing, or have no intention to use their guns if they are. I mean, it's not like they'll be shot and their body dumped in the town square if they return with their drug running mission gone awry.

Or how about the ultimate war zone Organ Pipe National Monument has become due to illegal traffic? I am sure the Border Patrol agent who was gunned down there a couple years ago by a desperate, armed illegal crosser could agree this guy was just a nice person...somehow his need for a better life accidentally fueled his artillery and deadly intent.

I wonder why our state is demanding deployment of the National Guard to our border?? No reason to call in the army when you're only dealing with a bunch of mostly harmless people, right.

Don't assume your past experiences dictate your future ones out there.

Hi Eyes of Green,

You are right that there are some terrible things happening on the border. Ranchers are getting their homes broken into, things stolen, etc. Border Patrol are risking their lives on a daily basis.

Although I don't have any data to back this up, my opinion is that most illegal immigrants are not armed and are not violent people. It's dangerous to let the behaviors of a minority come to represent the greater population.
