| Man, i just know you all clicked this thread even faster than it took for the signals to get from your eye to your brain. Hahahaha... anyway, I am just preemptively asking what help is needed for the fall bfest. I understand a beanmaster has been identified but haven't seen/heard any dates.
If said beanmaster needs any help, by all means, get it out. I'll provide what assistance i can. Hopefully i won't be in Buffalo.

| Hi all,
The Bean Master has been identified indeed. Is me! :)
Sorry about the delay on posting a date. I have been busy/climbing/out of town/not ready. Anyways...
Bean Fest Fall '08 will happen on the east side campgrounds on Halloween weekend: November 1st and 2nd.
I will start working hard on this, but I have no clue on what to do for most of it and any help is appreciated.
(yes, I'll start crying for help as soon as I figure out what I need, thanks!)

I was thinking about an outfit contest though... this could be a great theme... hehehe.... what better than 70/80 climbing fashion?

| Will you like to work on this idea for a poster/t-shirt design???? is pretty cool | |
By Daryl Allan From Sierra Vista, AZ Jul 30, 2008
| Sure... i've never designed a t-shirt but i seem to remember that there's some things to consider such as white space and range of colors that i'm not up to par on. I'll do what i can but if anyone else with more knowledge on it wants the psd to mess with it, i'll gladly send it over. Any suggestions for changing/adding to this one?

| Wow cool shirt design.. Post more info about this Beanfest when you can. It sounds like it would be fun to take a ride down from Utah. | |

| Robert's post brings up a good point. Maybe we should consider having a Beanfest thread in the general area for those willing to roadtrip it out here. I've only seen them under the AZ/NM group.
On the friday before the spring 08 fest, we met a couple of climbers from Alaska that were on a road trip to several areas. When i mentioned beanfest, they didn't know what the heck i was talking about. Well 5 minutes later or so, they're doing the "I could have had a v8" forehead smack wishing they had planned ahead to have enough time to stay for the weekend.
Robert, in general it's a weekend of camping, climbing and fun with events like human fooseball and other craziness. Come on down! You won't regret it! (be sure to let everyone know it's your first time)

| I like it better without the Piton. The piton just crowds the whole thing to much. | |
By Luis Cisneros From Tucson Aug 1, 2008
| The theme will be 70's and 80's... there will be a costume contest for originality, best props, etc... So plan on bringing fun outfits and old gear!!!
I am still thinking and working on the official T-Shirt.
Thanks everyone for the awesome contributions!

| Ok I have to be the party pooper but isn't Halloween weekend a bad weekend for us old guys with family. Namely young kids that insist they have to go tricker treating. | |
By Mike Diesen From Sierra Vista, AZ Aug 11, 2008
| My wife brings up a good point. What better Halloween fun than spending it out in the Dragoons with Cochise and his warriors. Hope nothing bad happens to anyone ... | |

| soon. | |

| Tick, tock... So what's it going to be? 60's or 70's? I need to know if should call Mike Diesen to borrow one of his jumbo-collar, disco button-downs and some bell-bottoms (you should see his collection) or plan on swinging by the Bisbee swap meet on the way up to score some farout tie dye. | |

| OK Climbers, we are getting close to the event: November 1st
We are gonna have T-shirts pretty soon, thanks to Gina and Evelyn.
Remember to bring costumes. We'll have a contest, among other things.
The theme is retro-climbing, anything you like, 70s or 80s. So bring your old clothing and gear (I know, many of you kids were not even born yet, but whatever)... 70s hippie outfits, 80s spandex, neon colors and mullets are encouraged! But if you opt for not being a retro-climber, any fun costume will do, as long as you have one. ANYBODY not having a costume will be (mildly) penalized... :)
A tentative list of categories for the costume contest:
1- Best retro-climber costume + props 2- Best retro-climber party (2 people) 3- Best retro costume (not climber) 4- Most original Halloween costume 5- Most original Halloween couple 6- Best Dynasty hair style (girls) 7- Best NATURAL mustache (guys)
Also, VERY important: Crash Pads and Helmets... please bring them if you have any. We need them for a game.
I'll post more info in the following days.
hasta pronto | |
