Don't know how high Peppersauce is, but I've been told that those Black Rattler's live 5,000 Ft and above. Seen one at the Summit Crag's and one at the Prison Camp. They sure are pretty in an eerie way. Actually named a climb after one at the Bugspring wall. Great shot of that Beauty!

Seen a black this summer at 8,000ft+. He did his job and was pi$$ed when we were near, but matter of fact when we weren't in it's comfort zone. Dog walked right up on it. I looked ahead in the trail wondering why the dog stopped. The snake was standing up about 4feet from her. Luckily she listened and came back towards me.

Ive kept these before - they are excellant specimens and one of the true beauties in the rattlesnake world. They occur in the Bradshaws quite frequently and are actually rather docile when not being harassed.
We found them around 7000 feet.

Seems like I saw somewhere that the Az Black is on the endangered list ?

We saw one of these on Saturday, on our way in to Munchkinland. He was just slowly cruising along, then calmly curled up under a bush. Didn't rattle or otherwise respond, although there was a group of about 15 of us walking by within a few feet.

I may be an old fuddy-duddy, but
I'd much rather climb with a rattlsnake around than a group of 15.
Holy cripes!!
