Description

Aquila Peak is the high point of the Five Fingers and this route is the easiest way up and down. There are other routes on the south and west faces that don't get much traffic, but this route is popular with peak baggers due to the short approach, moderate grade and scenery.

Location

From the parking at the end of the road hike northwest toward the high point of the Five Fingers. There is an intermittent trail with some cairns on the approach. Generally head toward the east face and look for a lower angle gully that heads up south (climber's left) of the true summit. Climb the gully to its end, then traverse northward to the register.

Protection

Usually soloed, but a light rack could be used. The path of least resistance up will also be the descent.
