Cosmosis 5.10a  CA : Joshua Tree National Park : ... : Apparition Rock
Begin to the right of Apparition. Climb up 50' of discontinuous cracks with some loose rock to a sloping ledge. Continue up another 10', then traverse up and left along crux hand crack (.75 cam helpful) to join last 5' of Apparition. Belay from slung block. Descent: scramble to climber's left down gully. In my opinion, the last 30' of the route warrants a 2- star rating, but the lower section is not too memorable, so overall a one star route, especially when compared to Apparition....[more]   Browse More Classics in CA

There's an easier descent than the one shown in the picture. As you head to the climber's left, keep going past the gully marked in the picture (which I really didn't like the look of), all the way to the south end of the formation. A low angle slab will lead you down to the side of the formation, and a quick boulder hop will get you back to the base. More roundabout, but also much more secure.
