Longs Peak looming

In the latest App, with the addition of the Forum within the App, I have found that you cannot side scroll when a line of text causes the window to expand outside of viewable area.

On the iPad update, which looks great, if you click on classic climbs for an area, none of my star ratings show up. It would be nice to look at an area and see my ratings so I can easily identify a climb what I have or have not done

THEY GOT RID OF SORTING L->R and R->L! The app is now USELESS as a guide! Please bring back sorting options. This made it impossible for me to find climbs in Seneca last weekend.

No we didn't Steve. Not all areas have sorting information, and you must have been in one of those locations. We started collecting sort information about a year ago, and currently about 40,000 routes (half) are sorted so far.

This database is entirely built by community at large. We don't have complete information for everywhere.

I like it. It's a valuable technological resource. It's not meant to replace a guidebook, only augment it- chiefly with bits of beta and some pictures. Remember that most places have guidebooks that were composed by area developers that put a hell of a lot of time and hard work into not only development, but the production of a guidebook. I'm personally of the opinion that if you frequent an area and enjoy established lines, it's good karma to get the guidebook.

If you want more info in the app, it's up to you as a user and thus contributor to get out there and add more. I can't think of a better app out there (especially being free) that serves this particular purpose. Good work guys.

On my Ipad2 if I try to read the forums through the app it cuts the right side off with no way to scroll over to see it.

alt finish to ewephoria

I'd like to see a route rating option on the app. Not for stars, but for rating climb difficulty, ie 5.9, etc. that's all.

Didj atop 1st pitch of Free to Choose

The Mountain Project App failed to open on my iPhone 4s after several attempts this morning. I deleted it (losing all saved data), downloaded it and now it has opened but I am unable to open the search screen. Perhaps the latest update to this app has some flaws.

Update: deleted and reinstalled it and now seems to be functioning properly. Love this app.

You broke it again for me. I accidentally clicked the latest update, and now the app gets stuck at startup. I deleted it and now it won't reinstall. This is the night before leaving on a trip to Red River and I actually paid the $5 for it.

Second pitch of MF at the Gunks, on 1/12/08.

I've been using the app on an ipad and really like it. Here's my personal wish list of things I'd like to see (sorry if some of these are repeats):

1. The ability to do the "best routes for you in this area" customized search on the app. That's one of my favorite features of the website, and I'd absolutely love to see that on the app as well.

2. The ability to update all areas on the device at one go, or a setting to auto-update areas when on a wifi network. I've loaded a bunch of areas, and to get updates I have to go through and update them one by one. It's slow.

3. The ability to download all photos of large areas when on a wifi network, or the ability to limit photo downloads to beta photos. For example, Boulder Canyon has a ridiculously large number of photos, so the app objects to getting them all at once. But having to go through each area in Boulder Canyon and get the photos one area at a time takes a while.

Relaxing in the Tuttle Creek Campground after a fun day in the Hills

One more "wish list" item: The ability to filter todos based on areas and sub-areas. As it is, all my todos are just mixed together in the app, so if I'm going somewhere (say Joshua Tree) that I haven't been in awhile and want to remind myself what my todos are, it's pretty hard to do with the app.

Also the ability to delete todos from the app would be nice for when I finally send something.

Thanks again for putting the awesome app together!

Climbing pitch 6. The huge roofs above are avoided by climbing to the left on pitch 11, and pitch 12 starts above them.

Love the app. When trying to delete an area it often gets stuck in a Deleting Area or Waiting to Delete cycle and never goes away. When I try and view another area I get:

"An error occurred while accessing the datastore. If you are downloading, updating, or deleting an area, please wait until this finishes and try again"

Wait as I may, the only way to get around it has been to uninstall the entire app and reload my areas.

Other than that, the app is an amazing tool, especially for the western slope, thanks for the great work!

Owens Gorge. Mt Tom in background.

Just downloaded the latest version of your app to my iphone 4S. I'm looking forward to using it and will definitely pay the one-time subscription fee when required. I do have a couple of general comments though.

My experience on which apps I keep and continue to use on my phone tend to strike a balance between content and design. At present the MP app seems very content heavy (which is a good thing when considering climbing beta) and somewhat lacking in design, especially in simplicity and asthetic from a users perspective.

As this app continues to be refined, please consider keeping the design and user interface as simple, intuitive to use and uncluttered as possible. I would argue there are features on this app that don't necessarily need to be there for it's intended purpose, but those features are alternatively useful on the MP main site instead.

Otherwise carry on with your great work!

Suburban caving.

I think this is worth considering:

Make two apps.

The first app is free, and gives you acces to the forums, access to the front page and photos, and to user profiles, and the deals. This is basically your advertising/social app

The second app is the route database and the ability to update personal ticks, ratings, stars, and route comments. This is the $10.00 field guide. Alternatively, this could be an in app purchase option to the first app.

I not sure how heavy you guys are into iOS and Android development. This may be too much work for what you want, but it make some sense to me.
