Ape Index - Thumbs Down

Thumbs down to Ape Index and the crew that went to Enchanted Tower this weekend for violating the fire restrictions. There were signs posted everywhere, notices on the web, and we even came over and informed you. Such actions reflect poorly on our community and jeopardize access.

That said you were all very pleasant and a joy to be around. I look forward to running into your crew and checking out the gym.

Weak.

Was this climbers that frequent Ape Index or staff and owners from Ape Index?

My understanding, which admittedly could be wrong, was that it was the owner and a group he was leading.

This is standard behavior for the Ape Index crew at Jacks Canyon... and it was the owner that I spoke to there... they bring in chain saws and cut standing trees and leave their signs around after they leave for others to clean up... and I spoke with him and tried to inform him that cutting standing trees was illegal and I believe his quote was: "that is what I do... I cut shit down"

If that actually happened ( I wasn't there ), then the Ape Index owner / crew truly sucks big donkey balls.

Super lame and disappointing to hear. I'd suggest an email to them, apeindexinfo@gmail.com, including the link to the fire restrictions in the Cibola National Forest.

He does, indeed, live in the area. It is entirely plausible he would have gone to Ape Index at some point.

I can't say I would appreciate anyone cutting standing trees, and violating desert fire restrictions (in June no less). Much less climbers. This crosses the line of one "douchebag," and into the realm of true pitty for anyone expecting to learn from this moron.
Learn to conduct yourself outdoors, or stay in the fucking gym.
