| Looking for a versatile 4-season tent and like what I've seen of this tent in reviews. I like the side opening design but not really sure if I need the (weight of the) extra door. Does anyone have any personal experience with this tent? If not a fan, any other recommendations for a single wall tent that is versatile and can handle moderate winter conditions and not too heavy? Thanks, Aaron | FLAG |

| The Ahwahnee is very comparable to the Eldorado, BUT the Eldo is 1 lb 14 oz lighter, $100 cheaper and has an optional vestibule. The Ahwahnee is 3" longer though. I'm 6'2" and have spent many nights in an Eldorado with a similarly sized climbing partner and a full load of winter gear and found it completely adequate, so in short, I don't think the Ahwahnee is worth the extra weight and money. | FLAG |

| Hi Jon, thanks for the info. I actually found a retailer online that is selling the Ahw for close to the same price as the Eld so no issue there but I agree on the weight. I actually like the side door as it would make it more liveable during warmer conditions. How is the ventilation and warmer weather performance with the Eld in your opinion? | FLAG |

| I haven't camped out with it in particularly warm or prolonged wet weather yet (knock on wood), but it's always been fine. As long as you keep in mind the prevailing wind direction and pitch the tent such that you get a nice through-wind, you're fine. Any conditions that would make being inside an Eldo unpleasant would certainly make an Ahwahnee equally unpleasant. | FLAG |
