Anyone ever lost all feeling in their arm during a climb?

Was climbing outdoors and I jammed my arm in a crack up to the elbow after a hard move. I rested on it maybe 30 seconds, and when I climbed again, I couldn't feel my arm at all. It was very scary and weird, but luckily the climbing got easier.

Eventually feeling came back with pins and needles, but for the rest of the day my hand and grip felt really weak, and now 6 hours later, I still have a patch of numb area around the back of my thumb, feels kind of like it's anaesthetized. Any idea how long until my hand will be back to normal?

Maybe pinched your Brachial Nerve?? A buddy of mine broke his wrist boarding and opted for a nerve block. From what I recall it took a few days to come good!

Yeah, I agree. My totally non-professional opinion is that you pinched a nerve in your arm. I'd take it easy for a few weeks. Maybe do some lite climbing in the gym as your arm tolerates it until the symptoms start to improve.

I've tweaked nerves in my fingers doing finger cracks with sloppy technique. It seemed like it would take a few weeks to a month to totally clear up.

Good luck.
