I highly doubt the petzl spirit carabiner has any flaws.

You are right though, bad press at the moment. :D

Just an FYI, I was selling them before this recent issue.

I dunno Randy. Their ropes have iffy reviews from many people I know that purchased them, and a recent post about one of their carabiners breaking. Not that a 'biner of any brand can't break given the right circumstance(s) or cross loading, etc....but the ropes? Nadda. Heard too many poor reviews on them. NYClimber
