Description

This Intimidating yet tame cuzin of Tahquitz, is rightfully named after the Indian Prince Algoot.
Algoot according to Native American legend, vanquished the Tahquitz Demon to this alpine mountainside cirquet in the sky.
Like any back country alpine setting, rock can be loose. An abundance of unimaginable lines can be found by the few bold and adventurouse enough to search out this beast!

Getting There

Take Devils slide trail to Saddle Junction. Head south on PCT to South Ridge Trail Junction. Follow Southridge trail to Tahquitz peak fire look out station. Drop down north slope from station to access crag or approach via Indian Buttress and go even further!!!

Warning to climbing on the Altar!

Climbers beware, like Tahquitz the Altar is in a sub alpine environment and loose rock is prevalent. We are not in the gym anymore folks be careful up there and most important have fun!
