Description
This secluded area is at the end of a long, spicy dirt road with bouldering on the beach and one sport route on a small line of cliffs that has potential for more. The quality of the rock is not great but definitely not bad either. Certainly not choss. The sea breeze is welcomed most of the time and the routes can be climbed year-round if you pick your time of day correctly.
Getting There
Heading south from Loredo on Hwy 1, pass the sign for Ligui. Just prior to reaching Huatamote, take a dirt road left, west-northwest and down toward Puerto Agua Verde. Just as the road meets the Sea of Cortez, and San Cosme is just offshore, the road turns south towards the village. Stop here and wait until the tide goes out so that you may drive the now-exposed granite shelf north around a rocky point (see photo) to some great camping. The sport route, "Feliz Navidad," is back in the trees behind the campsites on a small band of cliffs. It is in a small canyon on the center-left of the wall. The bouldering is south of the rocky point on some beach cliffs. All are within walking distance, though a kayak makes the "Beach Wall" a sweet approach.
